Every summer my family heads to Michigan for a family vacation. Last year, my dear friend Tressie, who lives in Michigan and is a fabulous photographer, came out to the lake to take our family pictures. The pictures were wonderful and I was so happy to be able to repay the favor this year for her family.

This session was taken for "The Littlest Heroes Project," a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people to give back, and make a difference through the beauty of art.

This beautiful child has Type 1 diabetes. She will be insulin dependent for the rest of her life. She wears an insulin pump that is attached to her body 24 hours a day, and is required to constantly check her blood sugar by pricking her tiny fingers 10 or more times a day – even twice in the middle of the night.
